WHO ARE WE?

WHY ARE WE?

HOW ARE WE TO LIVE?

We are women living out our baptismal promises in this faith community whose lives are guided by the Gospel and the Rule of St. Benedict. Benedict says " Listen with the ear of your heart." (RB Prol.)

Sister ClaudiaGrowing, changing, struggling, daring...we share in Christian Community with friends, Oblates and Associates. Through prayer and dialogue we witness to  ecumenical hospitality knowing  that we often learn most from those we seek to serve.

Our intent is to live a viable monastic life and to be a Benedictine presence among the people on Vancouver Island. Each sister of the House of Bread offers a unique expression of that presence in her particular work.

Our Benedictine spirituality calls us live the paschal mystery,to open ourselves to  growth and change. We need the support of community and the  challenge, wisdom and humor of each other to deepen our faith and to  grow in respect and love for self, others, our environment, and for the God who loves us with an everlasting love.

HOW DO YOU HEAR GOD’S CALL?

"Today, if you hear God's voice..." (RB Prol.)

We invite you to contact our Vocation Director and make arrangements to visit the monastery and consider attending the yearly Monastic weekend.

Our Monastic weekend includes sharing with community and  discussing such topics as "Seeking God", "The Uniqueness of Religious Communities in the Church Today", and "The monastic heart in Benedictine  spirituality."

For further information contact the Vocation Director.
