This remarkable book tells the
story of one woman's journey to God. Born in California,
where she was raised on her great-uncle Jack London's
ranch, Jill Aigner writes with deep wisdom and
compassion of her traumatic childhood, her early love of
the natural world, her yearning to belong, and her
fearless quest for answers to those questions that we
all must face, if we are to live as free and creative
human beings. It is a story of a rich, full life filled
with the blessings of nature and the rhythms of work,
the delights of travel and of meeting people from all
over the world, and the joy and pain of living in
community. Above all, it is the inspiring story of
Jill's struggle to redeem her past and to live
authentically, impelled always by a call to serve, to
know herself, and to draw ever closer to a loving God.
Jill's life-story is uniquely her own, yet it is the
story of anyone who has ever sought deep connection and
truth as the way to enter the heart of life's mystery.
"Sister Jill's life, spoken in
vigorous honesty and openness, comes at a time of great
struggle and unrest for us all. Here, in this
life-story, we experience a fierce courage, a sensitive,
listening and obedient heart and mind answering life's
promptings with extraordinary imagination, talent, and
humility."
—Thomas A. Francoeur,
M.A.EdD. Professor/Psychologist, McGill
University.
"Sister Jill's autobiography
moved me to tears. It will move others, especially
victims of childhood trauma, to reach for the stars and
gratefully embrace their call to a healing union with
our loving God."
—Fr. Armand M. Nigro, S.J.
"Sr Jill's
honesty and openness makes it possible to
dare look into our life and discover our own truth.
Her direct approach, knowing that she is
unshockable, has helped me face my own darkness and
light."
